Why C-Suite Profiles Need Extra Effort/Focus During Recruitment Process

The process of recruitment is not always limited to selecting and hiring employees in the low level or middle level of management; it may also be employed when hiring executives at the top level of the management. While the basic process of recruitment remains the same when hiring these executives, some extra care effort needs to be put in to hire C-suite profiles.
What are C-Suite Profiles?
C-suite profiles refer to the executives of a company. The aim of the executives of this profile is to ensure that the company runs successfully. Some common C-suite profiles are Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Information Officer and the likes. C-Suite executives usually need to work long hours and their jobs are highly stressful, but these executives are also compensated well.
Challenges for hiring C-Suite Profiles
When C-Suite executives are being hired, companies need to put in extra effort because there are many challenges faced when hiring these executives.
Some of these are discussed below:
•    The C-suite executives know that they are in demand and therefore have a more control during the negotiation process. Most of the times, companies are not ready with an attractive-enough package to attract these executives and lose out on hiring the best.
•    The executives who work at the top level of management demand a specific type of environment and culture and it becomes essential for companies to ensure that they get that. Companies that fail to provide an environment and culture that inspires such executives to join them need to put in extra efforts in doing so.
•    Established companies are often used to following the traditional management styles. These days, however, the top-level management posts are handled in many cases by Gen-Z and Millennials who have their own working style and may not follow the organisational structure and culture. Such organisations when wanting to hire C-suite profiles need to be ready to accept the changes that will be brought about and therefore need to put in extra efforts into hiring such executives.
•    When hiring executives for the top level of the management, it is essential for companies to have a proper and structured interview format that gauges the skills and competencies of the candidate. Developing a structured interview may need extra focus and efforts.
•    The job description when hiring C-Suite executives also needs to be properly specified with all responsibilities, duties and expectations from the executives listed. Formulating the right job description is an extra effort when it comes to hiring of executives.
All in all, the recruitment process for hiring C-suite executives needs to be more refined and streamlined to ensure that the right candidate is chosen to be at the helm of the affairs of an organisation.
