What is Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO)?

Recruitment Process Outsourcing is a business methodology using which a company outsources a part of or whole of its recruitment operations to an external vendor. RPO team is responsible for the hiring of new employees in the Client organization. This business model has proved to be really helpful by reducing the recruitment time by 50%.

 How do RPO Functions?

Hiring skilled candidates as per the client’s requirement is the most important role of an RPO. They use a combination of few job portals and various other hiring tools to present the best talents available in the industry. Apart from listing out the candidates, RPO’s support the hiring process from start to end. From candidate sourcing, assessment, job interviews, and onboarding, everything is managed by the RPO team.

Hereafter, they save the time, money and efforts of the company which they would have spent in the recruitment process. Moreover, they are professionals dedicated to hiring, so they can actually improve the business by introducing fresh talent.

Having said that, there are multiple models of RPO engagement, and they are usually categorized into three segments:

 1. On-Demand RPO

The changing dynamics of the industry can change the position of a business organization anytime. At times companies require new employees, and other times they completely freeze the hiring process. An on-demand RPO model is designed on this uncertainty of the market. It says that the client can seek help from RPO teams to help as and when required.

 2. Function-Based RPO

In this model, an entire section of a company’s recruitment is handed over to an RPO. It is decided on the basis of business needs. For example, if an organization is launching a new project, then they can allocate hiring for that complete venture to an RPO.

Here the external team becomes an extension to the in-house employment team.

 3. Full RPO

In this process, the complete recruitment work of the company is assigned to the RPO. From candidate shortlisting to the employee joining, everything is managed by an external vendor. In this case, the RPO acts as an offshore recruitment team of the company.

The recruitment process outsourcing is a very flexible process which is completely dependent on the choice of the client. Lately, it has become a conventional recruitment practice in the industry.
