Every team or an organization in corporate firms usually has some terms or acronyms related to their processes which may sometimes sound like jargon to others. These are the usually some odd words which are limited to a certain set of people and not easily understood by the outside world. Similarly, recruiters also exercise a couple of such slangs which are prominently used as a part of their day to day activities.  

Now, we will discuss the top 5 used lingos in the recruitment business. 

1. ATS

It is a short form for a software called Application Tracking System which majority of companies use when they conduct their recruitment activities, in-house. It is an inventory of candidates that stores their professional data. Apart from that, it also helps to track the status of the candidate's application. 

2. Contract to Hire

Some recruiters hire new employees on a contractual basis. As a part of this contract, a new employee is kept under a couple of months of Probation period during which his/her performance is monitored. It gives a chance for the Company to evaluate if that candidate is suitable for them or not. After the completion of that particular period, the final decision on that individual's employment is made.

3. OTE

OTE stands for on-target earnings. It is very common terminology used in target driven jobs, especially in a BPO. A lot of customer-facing jobs like Sales in BPO are OTE based, which means each employee is assigned some targets at the start of a quarter or a month. Based on the success of the employee in achieving those targets, their final paycheck for that period is given. Considering the dynamics of a BPO, this is a very frequently used term among their recruiters. 

4. Net Promoter Score

NPS is a measure of the effort of an executive to recommend his Company's product. In simple words, it calculates how successfully an employee is able to sell new launches in the market. This is usually calculated through client surveys.

This is another term related to customer relations; therefore, it is common among BPO recruiters.

Pre-Employment Screening

PES is a process in which the background verification related to educational, professional and criminals records of an applicant is conducted, before the onboarding. This is the common procedure followed by recruiters to ensure the relevance of a candidate.
